Bags as a type of shipping package came to prominence in the late 19th century when paper shopping bags revolutionized the American consumer market at the time. Later, the PP bag design and materials were changed, with polymer (polyethylene) bags first coming from film and then from polymer (polypropylene) fabrics. And for the last several years, the bags have been used as soft shipping containers and continue to be used for the storage and transportation of various food and industrial products.

This article focuses on one of the most modern types of bags. Made of polypropylene fabric, it is widely used in the Ukrainian construction market (cement, dry mix, etc.) and chemicals (mineral fertilizers, etc.). Food (sugar, flour, salt) animal feed, etc.) and other types of products. This situation led to the emergence in Ukraine of the production of polypropylene bags, manufactured mainly in the early 2000s.

General information.

Bags made of polymers, mainly polypropylene, have replaced paper and polyethylene. Together with big bags, it is an advanced type of modern flexible shipping package, mainly for bulk products, and fully complies with the packaging development trends of the global market. First of all, its use minimizes the consumption of materials and energy resources in production. In addition, polypropylene fabric bags have better characteristics than paper or polymer film bags. By selecting the grade of polypropylene and the parameters of the fabric to be manufactured, you can adjust the permeability of such bags to different gases, air and humidity.

In its final form, a bag made of polypropylene fabric looks like a fairly simple product. For its manufacture, granular polypropylene is used. In fact, it must be a polymer with special properties on which the performance properties of future polypropylene bags largely depend.

The manufacture of bags from polypropylene fabric consists of three major technical stages.

  • Manufacture and processing of polypropylene yarn in flat slot extruders.
  • Production of sleeves from polypropylene fabrics by weaving.
  • Manufacture of polypropylene bags in an automated process line.
